Projetemos — National Network of Free Projectionists

Since 2020 we have been putting images on walls and façades. Democracy, the environment, rights: what does not fit in public debate goes up on the wall. Got a projector? Join us. Need to say something out loud? Ask.

Guide

How to project

Five steps. It all starts with the projector. A professional one throws further, but a home unit already projects.

Get a projector

A professional unit is brighter and can cover a whole building. A home one works if the wall is dark and close.

Get your projector

Pick the wall

Light, flat and large. The darker the surroundings, the stronger the image.

Prepare the artwork

Black background, white marks, high resolution. Black does not turn into light, it turns into nothing.

Align and mask

Use the mapping app to fit the image to the façade and cut out windows and balconies.

Record and share

Shoot from far away, on a tripod. Then send it to the network.

Tool

Mapping app

Fits the image to the façade: align, warp, and cut out whatever should not catch light. Runs in the browser, nothing to install.

Artwork styled as a phone alert: “Alert in defence of SP”. Strong gusts of neglect have hit the capital and Greater São Paulo for 3 years; the governor is not coming.

Artwork in torn-paper collage with a map of Brazil between teeth, casino chips and banknotes: “Either betting is stopped, or betting finishes Brazil off”.

Yellow paste-up artwork with the faceless silhouette of a man in a suit: “Speaker of the House, enemy of women. Congress refuses to schedule the bill that protects women”.

Use at high resolution on a black background. More contrast, better reading on the wall.

Causes

Sign a cause

Before anything goes up, someone has to decide what goes on the wall. Sign the causes the network takes to the street.

Congresso

Vote for the people

Click a bill to land on its official page in Congress, where the poll lets you vote for or against. The 6x1 amendment has already passed the Chamber, so that one takes you to the Senate.
